The Vintage Club: Bringing Power to a California Luxury Resort

Introduction

As an ultra-private, ultra-exclusive resort in Coachella Valley, part of California’s Indian Wells, The Vintage Club is much more than a resort. It’s a community that offers a country club atmosphere, creating unforgettable first impressions and incredible experiences for its successful, affluent members.

Built in 1980, Platinum Clubs of America ranks The Vintage Club as the best luxury club in California and one of the top three clubs in the United States. There’s always something unique for members to enjoy, whether it’s a hot air balloon ride, a golf or tennis tournament, biking or hiking, a champagne brunch, a jazz concert, or a gourmet dinner that takes place against the backdrop of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains.

Project Overview

The Facility

Built in 1980, The Vintage Club is spread across 712 acres. In 2016, its clubhouse underwent a major renovation to establish a variety of casual and formal spaces both indoors and outdoors where members and residents can connect with their families and with each other.

Today, the community is home to:

  • 500+ luxury residences
  • A stunning clubhouse
  • Two championship golf courses, a golf training center, and locker rooms
  • Tennis and pickleball centers
  • Three restaurants and a wine cellar
  • Several lakes
  • Spa and wellness center
  • Swim complex

The Challenge

The high-level CEOs, real estate developers, Forbes 500ites, and former NFL team owners who enjoy The Vintage Club—either as members or part-time residents—expect connectivity and amenities wherever they are on the property. And the devices they carry with them require ever-increasing data rates and power levels.

Because the community is spread across 712 acres, however, The Vintage Club struggled with distributing electrical power to the site’s remote locations. Traditional powering solutions and solar panel systems are costly to install and require lots of infrastructure and maintenance. The property’s owners wanted to ensure efficient and sustainable power distribution across the site without compromising safety or reliability.

The Solution

RaeTech, a network design, installation, support, and managed services company in Southern California, was responsible for the installation. Because RaeTech was familiar with Digital Electricity™ solutions, it introduced VoltServer’s Digital Edge Solutions as an option.

Digital Electricity made it possible for The Vintage Club to deploy decentralized zone-based architecture. With this simple, easy-to-configure solution, the property was able to quickly and efficiently power distributed networks, deploying fiber and significant amounts of power through the same cable and data pathway. Working together, RaeTech and VoltServer designed a new architecture that integrates Digital Electricity into The Vintage Club’s existing IT and electrical systems.

Time Constraints

System installation needed to be done quickly and with minimal disruption to members and residents. Because Digital Edge Solutions reduce the amount of infrastructure required to connect devices, remote buildings, and outdoor networks, they also decrease planning, deployment, and installation time.

Comprehensive kits include everything needed to power essential infrastructure and network elements. The entire project was completed in just four weeks.

Ease of Installation

VoltServer experts collaborated with RaeTech installers to ensure smooth deployment, with minimal rework and disruption to property operations. Through thorough training sessions provided by VoltServer, the RaeTech team was able to confidently bring power to essential infrastructure and network elements.

Seamless Connectivity Inside and Out

Because of the way The Vintage Club is designed, with water features and fountains, flowers, palm trees, fire pits, and glass façades, it’s hard to tell where the outdoors end and the indoors begin. That same feeling of continuity now applies to power across the property, too.

As members and residents move throughout the 712-acre property, their experience remains the same, whether they’re out by the pool, enjoying lunch at one of the onsite restaurants, receiving a golf lesson, or playing a round of pickleball.

Future Expansion

The Digital Edge Solutions deployed at The Vintage Club will allow the property to continue to expand and improve its facilities and amenities over time without worrying about power distribution.

Conclusion

By embracing innovative solutions like Digital Electricity and Digital Edge Solutions, the Vintage Club can continue to serve up the experiences that its members and residents expect. The technology will also make it simpler for the property to expand power distribution as it adds new services and offerings.
