Tetra Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, it is listed to UL 1400-1 with UL
No, VoltServer’s 2nd Gen platform has been a workhorse for our partners the last 7 years and will continue to be well into the future. VoltServer’s Gen 2 platform has a strong value proposition for our legacy markets and has industry proven performance. The 3rd Generation Tetra platform is targeted to address the markets VoltServer is expanding into encompassing OT and Data Center environments.
FMP is ideal for projects requiring safe, efficient, high-power delivery while minimizing installation costs and complexity. FMP functions optimally with applications demanding long cable runs, high power density, and seamless integration of data and power. Here are a few use case examples:
- Ideal for projects requiring safe high-power distribution without costly conduit.
- Campus environments, data centers, or large commercial facilities where power needs to span significant distances.
- Powering dense IoT deployments, LED lighting grids, 5G cell sites, or distributed antennas in stadiums.
- Smart buildings, intelligent lighting systems, and edge computing deployments.
- Environments with strict safety requirements, such as healthcare facilities, schools, or hazardous locations.
- Green buildings or LEED-certified projects aiming to reduce carbon footprints.
FMP enhances the functionality and safety of PoE systems. Here is an example of a case study – Hotel Marcel – Farukh Aslam, a Fort Worth real estate developer, collaborated with Cisco Systems and VoltServer to revolutionize power distribution. By integrating VoltServer’s patented Digital Electricity™ solution with PoE technology, Aslam enabled seamless, low-voltage Ethernet-powered lighting throughout the building.
We typically sell through our channel partners via distribution. There are scenarios where we sell direct as well.
For full rated capacity the Tetra-4 requires 208-277VAC. The system can be operated at 120VAC for a de-rated capacity.
The Tetra-4 has network capability, however, the connection is to the internal customer network and does not communicate outside that network.
VoltServer deploys extensively with both copper only or hybrid cables.
Development continues with the VoltServer Engineering team to expand capacity of the system.
Yes, FMP can potentially feed power directly to power supply modules in network switches, provided the switches or their power supplies are designed to accept the DC output that FMP provides. By bypassing the conversion to AC power, this approach could reduce energy losses and simplify the power distribution architecture. However, it would require compatibility between the FMP system and the network switch’s power supply design, as most current switches are designed to accept AC input. Integrating FMP directly would likely require custom or compatible DC-input power supplies in the switches.
While “touch safe”, the cabling system and VoltServer RX would need to be provisioned for utilization in hazardous locations.
