Stephen Eaves is the CEO and founder of VoltServer, a venture funded technology company in East Greenwich, RI. Since 2014, VoltServer’s ability to deploy touch-safe, high-power electricity in a safe, data enabled digital format has led to successful installations in nearly 1,000 premier venues including hotels, office buildings, NFL stadiums and indoor vertical farms.

Steve has more than 20 years of experience founding and managing energy related start-up companies. Prior to VoltServer, in 2006, Steve founded Modular Energy Devices a Lithium-ion battery company acquired by EnerSys in 2011. Modular Energy Devices became a leading supplier of Lithium-ion batteries to the U.S. telecommunications industry with thousands of installations worldwide. From 2000-2006, Stephen founded and served as president of Eaves Devices, that developed power electronics and energy control systems for the B2 Bomber, ships and submarines, satellites, and the international space station. He has authored or co-authored numerous industry and academic peer reviewed papers related to the energy industry that have appeared in respected academic journals and media outlets such as Newsweek and the Washington Post, and have been referenced by corporations, governments, and economic development organizations. Stephen has more than thirty patents issued or pending related to energy storage and power conversion. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1987 and is a US Air Force veteran.

Digital Electricity(TM) is a new format for electricity distribution where electrical energy is transmitted in discreet data enabled packets, each verified for safety, from a transmitter to a remote receiver up to 2km away. DE has the power capabilities of conventional AC but is data enabled and inherently safe for people and structures – installing with the same practices as common Ethernet cable. DE is the ideal format to support digital transformation as demonstrated in nearly 1,000 premier venues that include NFL stadiums, conference centers, smart hotels and offices, and indoor vertical farms. It is particularly applicable in the trend towards “all DC” buildings that improve the use of renewable energy sources. The discussion will provide an overview of the technology and example use cases.
